Ryder Cup hopefuls staking their claim

The final leaderboard at last week’s Italian Open made for interesting reading. Home favourite Francesco Molinari was attempting back-to-back victories after his previous week’s triumph at Wentworth but had to settle for second place, one behind Thorbjørn Olesen who captured his fifth European Tour title in the process. Both golfers will have their eyes firmly set on a place in Europe’s Ryder Cup team come September as well as several top-10 finishers from the Italian Open such as Cabrera-Bello, Sullivan, Poulter and Willett.

Someone else looking to compete in Paris is young American Bryson DeChambeau who conjured up a timely victory at the Memorial Tournament. There were several stories at the beginning of the week including Justin Rose’s opportunity to rise to the top of the world rankings with a win (he finished T6) and Tiger Woods’ latest event of his eye-catching comeback (he led the field in several tee-to-green categories but faced putting woes throughout the week to end up six shots back), but DeChambeau stole the headlines with his playoff win to secure PGA title number two.

This year we are now stocking Cobra in the Pro Shop. This means that their range of F8, F8+ and F-MAX Driver are now in stock and available for custom fitting. Read on to find out the benefits from Cobra’s clubs, including their partnership with Arccos Golf and their revolutionary shot tracking and stats building technology.

Cobra F8 & F8+

The King Cobra F8 and F8+ are the first metalwoods ever to feature a CNC milled face for incredible speed and precision. This ground-breaking, precision milled forged face has been paired with revolutionary 360°Aero Technology and Cobra Connect Powered by Arccos, to deliver Cobra’s fastest, most precise and smartest drivers to date.

Cobra Connect Powered by Arccos Golf calculates where you play your shots from via GPS, which then generates a plethora of stats that you can then use to improve your game!

Compared to traditional hand polished drivers, CNC precision milling allowed Cobra engineers to achieve precise face thickness and tighter tolerances resulting in improved bulge-and-roll curvatures with a face that is 3% thinner and 10% lighter for maximum ball speed across the face with distance and accuracy.

The subtle difference between the F8 and F8+ is that the F8+ is a lower spinning driver, designed for the faster swing speed and the more consistent striker of the ball as it has two centre of gravity settings, one in the front, for a lower, penetrating ball flight, and one in the back for a higher, towering ball flight with slightly more spin.

Cobra F-MAX

The Cobra F-Max driver is designed for easy launch, straighter shots, and more ball speed for slower swingers.

The F-MAX is designed with feel and look in mind, helping even the slowest of swing speeds get some feedback & feel off the face, whilst at impact aiding golfers to align the face up correctly.

When it comes to performance, the driver was tested with various impact positions, with the thought in mind that the average golfer will not always achieve the same impact position. Testing angle of attacks from 12-17 degrees (that typical of a higher handicapper) the driver performed every time, with a great ball flight. There is also a draw biased option for the driver to help those who hit a slice often off the tee.

Take your pick

We’re sure the majority of you will agree that having a distance device on the course is a huge benefit, going hand-in-hand with knowing how far you hit each club. For those of you in the market for a laser rangefinder or GPS device, here are a few options within Garmin’s range to suit different preferences.

Pinpoint laser accuracy
There's one standout feature to Garmin's Z80 laser rangefinder that sets it apart from all others on the market. As well as giving precise distances up to 350 yards away, the Z80 also includes hole maps that are integrated into the viewfinder, which display the shape of the hole and provide front and back distances when you lock on to the flag.

Information at a glance

Adjustability? So what...

From changeable hosels to sliding weights, drivers have never been as adjustable as they are today. But how does this benefit you? Read on to find out what you have to gain from playing an adjustable driver.

Personalise your launch
All of Callaway's current drivers feature the brand’s OptiFit adjustable hosel, which allows us to optimise your trajectory so you can launch it higher or lower, as well as choosing between a neutral or draw lie angle setting to try to improve your dispersion.

Shot shape control
On the GBB Epic we can utilise a 17g sliding weight that Callaway says can alter your flight by 21 yards from left-to-right to give you better accuracy, distance and control. So if your ball flight tends to be a fade to the right, we can move this weight to counteract this shot shape, helping you to find more fairways.

Don't outgrow your driver
If you’re planning on improving your technique and making swing changes, having an adjustable driver that you can alter to suit your new swing is much cheaper than forking out for a new model.
